Introduction

Breaking down the story to make it either more suitable or to make it easier to read. Before going into whether I decide to make it a comic book or a storybook, I would read through to find appealing visuals that I would think can work for this project.

Note: The numbers that have "II" underneath them are potential double page spreads, and if not, they will most likely be single page illustrations.

Research

The story has had many adaptions so what I'm looking for is more of a creepy take on the story, a few I take inspiration are people like Edward Gorey, not necessarily his work but more the dark tonal compositions of how he makes his work look.

Shaun Tan has always been someone I would come back to for research because how impactful his work can be.
Picture
Paula Rego is someone I have looked at before, she has done some dark takes of nursery rhymes like this one.

Keith Negley is new for me, but I really do like the style he uses, I have always been a fan of this style of illustration.

I wanted to use this form of illustration because I wanted to have a storybook that was spooky.

Minalima does a few classic children storybooks, and I really liked the look of them so I decided to make my front cover in the same style as these books.

Best way to illustrate a dancer is a photo reference. I chose this one because I was able to imagine there only one leg as it was told in the story.

E.g. Downloadable copy, Pledge without a reward, Art Cards, Tote Bags etc.

3. Pricing
4. What is my Goal?
5. A synopsis on what my project is about.
