<![CDATA[Illustrator Tutorial- Enamel Pins]]>Mon, 25 Jan 2021 16:30:51 GMThttp://joelroberts.grillust.uk/illu5040--drawing/illustrator-tutorial-enamel-pins
This project I was asked to design Enamel Pins using Illustrator on Fictionally TV Show, Movie or character. I decided to go for Quentin Tarantino characters or movies, I immediately went for scenes from those movies which now I look back, wasn't easy. I did enjoy drawing these out and if someone were to guess what they were, I would be positive to say that they would know. I would have however done something more simpler like an item from the movie (e.g. the wallet from Pulp Fiction or the keyring from Kill Bill) but overall I am pleased with what I have achieved on the pins and using Illustrator. Learning from my previous projects I decided look up Tutorials on YouTube and I can't deny that they were a huge help in improving my work.

<![CDATA[Photoshop Tutorial- Fake Band Poster]]>Mon, 25 Jan 2021 16:27:14 GMThttp://joelroberts.grillust.uk/illu5040--drawing/photoshop-tutorial-fake-band-poster
With this project I was given a random name given to me by my tutors to become an imaginary band poster, the name of my band was called "Confidential Waste" and from the name alone I thought Grunge or 60s psychedelic, I was to make a poster for this band on Adobe Photoshop, My process of thinking was at if I wanted to make a psychedelic poster I would make it based around the word "Waste" so my first thought was a bin and having some clouded fumes with the title inside the cloud of fumes, my next idea was to think of a poster based on the word "Confidential" and that I thought of paper waste and having the word confidential on top and make the word "waste" out of waste.
I quite liked the look of some of a rock band posters called The Pixies. Photoshop was quite easy to use because I have used it before in previous projects, however I did like using the liquify icon which was new to me, overall I think a bit more tweaking with some of the posters to make them stand out a bit more would be my priority for next time and to look up more tutorials on Photoshop.

<![CDATA[Week Two- Drawing]]>Mon, 25 Jan 2021 16:23:32 GMThttp://joelroberts.grillust.uk/illu5040--drawing/week-two-drawing
This my second week of drawings and I stuck with black and white just to become more confident with tone and shade, for next week ill begin to add colour to my work. I went all round Carlisle for a few of my drawings and the others were objects around my house. Overall I was the amount of work that I is shown here is at the minimum, however they are on a larger scale so take a little longer than, I didn't have any references when drawing so from now I'll start to take inspiration from other artists and hopefully I will be able to progress.

<![CDATA[Week One- Drawing]]>Mon, 25 Jan 2021 16:15:00 GMThttp://joelroberts.grillust.uk/illu5040--drawing/week-one-drawing
During the first week of getting back to normal, my ink drawing I would personally say has gotten better than last year, however this having problems with using a dip pen mainly because I either put too much ink on the pen or not enough. I've recently looked at some artists that I have taken an interest to, but I have also tried to come out of my comfort zone and go for artist that aren't the least but their style of ink drawing I would think I would struggle with the most for example dip pen as seen in previous projects, artists like Mervyn Peake have the incredible detail with the line drawing he uses in his work. A few of my ink drawings were inspired by the artist Daniel Clowes, however in one of those drawings was made with a dip pen, so if I ever look back at this, it goes to show that I needed to do my research before hand which is why its on here and not hidden away to be forgotten. I can say that Ink drawing is something I am going to have to keep working at throughout the year

<![CDATA[Lockdown Masks]]>Mon, 25 Jan 2021 16:08:23 GMThttp://joelroberts.grillust.uk/illu5040--drawing/lockdown-masks
During one of my online lessons, I was asked to make a mask in one hour, This is the final outcome of that mask, overall quite pleased with how it turned out and I look forward to making more. This mask was inspired by Polynesian culture of the Tiki Masks, I used cardboard for the entire mask and I added leaves to the top of the mask to make it stand out more, most challenging part was the headband, but that says more about the size of my head if anything. I really enjoyed making this and i look forward to making more.
